I have been in the business of law and taxation since 1999, starting off with the Finnish Tax Administration. Coming then trough the ranks of being a tax litigator for the City of Helsinki, I switched over to the other side of the table by becoming an Attorney-at-Law in 2005. So, it’s been almost a quarter of a century I’ve been involved in tax controversies of multiple nature, counted in hundreds.

There are as many ways of doing the business of law as there are law firms around. I’ve been around and seen quite a few of them, which gives me really the edge to cherry pick. I have, accordingly a strong vision as to how I want to serve my clients and enjoy every minute while doing that. I honestly get always exited when confronted with the kind of game of chess we engage in when litigating, with multiple angles to consider. I want to do things better all the time, that is what keeps me going.

Further, aside of being intensively involved in tax disputes, tax audits, tax related risk assessment and strategic advisory, I find it equally challenging to work on transactions where we try to figure out the way to structure the acquisition while respecting the business the client is pursuing. Then, as a kind of logical consequence of my background, tax evasion related criminal proceedings are of specific interest to me as they often emerge in connection with tax audits, and that is where the client is really in need of committed advocacy.

In conclusion, the fundamental reason for establishing Weckström Attorneys was my desire to provide the kind of service that can be defined in terms of full dedication, uncompromising quality, strategic thinking and personal commitment, in each assignment. This is what I promise to do.
